Angelina Jolie (born Angelina Jolie Voight; June 4, 1975) is an Academy Award winning Hollywood actor and director. She is one of the most paid Hollywood celebrities and an international icon and a role model for millions of fans all over the world. Her every single attitude including hairstyle, gesture and outfit is accepted as a fashion trend by her fans.
Angelina Jolie is also known as the most famous tattooed celebrity in the world. She’s regularly featured in celebrity news magazines and websites with one of her new tattoo designs. She has more than a dozen tattoos on her body. With such tattoos, make-up artists have to work really hard to cover them up during her shooting. 1. “Know Your Right”
This tattoo is written in Gothic letters at right between her shoulders. It says: “Know Your Rights” and is just the title of a song of her favorite band.
2. Buddhist Pali Incantation
This tattoo is a Buddhist Pali incantation written in Khmer script, the language of Cambodiaon on her left shoulder blade. She had it done by a tattoo artist- Sompong Kanhphai in a hotel in Pathum Thani while she was in Bangkok. She assumes it to protect her and her adopted Cambodian son Maddox from bad luck.
Its translation goes like this:
May your enemies run far away from you.
If you acquire riches, may they remain yours always.
Your beauty will be that of Apsara.
Wherever you may go, many will attend,
serve and protect you, surrounding you on all sides.
3. Geographical Coordinates
There are six (apparently seven) different geographical co-ordinates tattooed on her left arm. These are the locations where her children first entered her life.
N11° 33′ 00″ E104° 51′ 00″ : The place in Cambodia where eldest son Maddox was born.
N09° 02′ 00″ E038° 45′ 00″ : The place in Ethiopia were daughter Zahara was born.
S22° 40′ 26″ E014° 31′ 40″ : The place in Namibia where she gave birth to her biological daughter with Brad Pitt- “Shiloh”.
N10° 46′ 00″ E106° 41′ 40″ : The place in Vietnam where son Pax Thien was born.
N43° 41′ 21″ E07° 18′ 28″ and N43° 41′ 21″ E07° 18′ 28″: The place where her twins Vivienne and Knox were born in France!
She has recently revealed about her new tattoo which is the co-ordinate of the Birth place of Brad Pitt, her beloved. It means that she has a new line on her skin now!
5. XIII
There is the Roman number XIII (13) on her underarm. She says that she had it done because she doesn’t believe in superstitions. Long after, she has added another phrase: V MCMXL to it which means “13 May 1940″. It was the date when Winston Churchill gave a famous speech stating: “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat”.

She has got a letter “h” on her left wrist, which is reminiscent of a rune. It is believed that the letter H signifies her ex-boyfriend: Timothy Hutton. Though, she argues it is for her brother, James Haven. We can see it is her affection for her family. How caring!
7. “A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages”
Jolie has this line: “A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages” tattooed on her left arm. These are the words of her favorite poet- Tennessee Williams.
8. Cross Tattoo
Jolie had the cross tattoo done just before the day she married Johnny Lee Miller in 1995.
She says: “It was all symbolic, and it was a good thing, nothing dark.”
9. Bengal Tiger Tattoo
This Bengal Tiger Tattoo was done in Bangkok on July 8, 2004 by tattoo artist “Sompong Kanhphai” in the traditional Thai tattoo style with a manual needle. He also blessed it by chanting an ancient hymn. She had this tattoo done to celebrate her Cambodian citizenship.
10. Removed and Covered Up Tattoos
* Angelina Jolie did remove this Asian dragon tattoo with the name of her second husband Billy Bob Thornton above it (added later) after they broke up. It is now covered with the Arabic tattoo!
* She had done a Japanese Symbol for Death on her left shoulder. It was the very first tattoo she had ever done and it reminded her about her life. She had it removed without prior reason and now it is covered by the Khmer tattoo for her son Maddox on that place.
* She had a tattoo of a Japanese symbol for Courage on her right arm. As her ex husband Johnny Lee Miller had a matching tattoo to hers; that’s why we assume that she had it removed after her break up!
* There was an abstract line tattoo on her right arm. It was a custom tattoo created by herself and Billy Bob Thornton. Now, it is covered up with the Arabic tattoo.
There are rumors that she has few more tattoos on her body that is yet to be public.
